Christmas part deux
I was quite confident that Sevryn was going to have nothing to do with the slightly ominous looking man in red (I was, incidentally, a little unnerved to hear him growl at his elf, 'Take the picture; take the picture!!!' between his clenched smiling teeth. It was weird, let me tell you).
And, seeing as I was right, I made Grayson get his first picture with Santa in a very long time "Mum! It's been six years!"
I'm mean. I admit it. But obviously neither (all three) of them didn't want to be there.
Or ...
... I'll concede that Sevvie looks nothing like me. However, you have to admit there's a distinct resemblance between "best baby of the 20th century" and "best baby of the 21st century ...
(That's right. I did it. I had children in different centuries. Now if that doesn't make one feel old, I don't know what will.)
Totally out of order, but ...
As many of you know, Halloween was a write-off this year. The boss developed a scary high fever on Halloween and was sick for about a week after. So, we didn't really have any shots of him in his costume ... until now!
Jesse and Shannan came over on Adrian's birthday for a visit and to show off Shannan's engagement ring (what a rock!) and took this picture. Hey, we can have Halloween whenever we want; now give us candy!!!

Another birthday, come and gone ..
... well, actually, Sev's first birthday has come and gone. I think he really enjoyed himself, and his presents.
Mum and dad got him a workbench that he enjoys destroying; Grayson gave him "'Po," a hippopotamus which holds a hot water bottle ... very popular on cold evenings! Sevvie was lucky enough also to get some wondeful books from Grandma and Grandpa, a beautiful quilt from Grandma Tolonen, a funky cardigan (and yummy animal crackers) and a first Truck book from Gramma ... and all kinds of fun things (like a zylophone/piano from Uncle Jesse and Auntie Shannan and some super cool finger puppets from Auntie Paula and cousin Andrea) from the guests who helped his celebrate his birthday on Dec 4. I won't list all the fun stuff, but thanks so much to all of you who not only supplied him with wonderful prezzies, but also came to help celebrate his first year on Earth.
Thanks folks; we had a great time ... hope you did too.
Here are some pictures from his birthday proper, and a couple from the party. Unfortunately, the parents were so caught up in visiting, they forgot to take pictures *sigh*

Happy Birthday to me!!!
This is my first electronic card, from Grandma's friend Monique in the Netherlands.
Daddy wants to go visit her and check out cars ...
I'm in!
Well, here I am: It’s been a whole year—365 days—since I was born.
My mum wanted me to write something deep and meaningful but she and Dad keeping shaking their heads and mumbling, “where did the time go?”
So, I’ll let you know what I’m up to right now …
I weigh exactly 22 and a half pounds, a 485% weight gain since birth … not bad.
I am 28.5 inches tall, a 154% growth spurt. My feet are huge, let’s just leave it at that, ok? And speaking of huge, my head has, according to the doctor at my year’s well-baby appointment, “exploded.” I’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but super-grandma says it’s to hold my big brain.
I’m now wearing 18 month-old clothes … and I’m very fashion forward. In fact, I look quite chic when I’m not drooling down my front. I’m still drooling a lot ‘cause, see, I’ve got these white sharp things in my mouth that hurt me sometimes, but sometimes are fun to pinch mum with. She says “owww! Don’t bite Sevvie; be gentle,” which makes me laugh. I mean, c’mon, I can bite the couch, but I can’t bite her??? Whatever.
Right now I like to spend most of my time crawling around the house; as soon as my dad sits down, I crawl away and then he’s got to come after me to make sure I’m not chasing Kitty. And then he takes me back to play with me, and then I crawl away from him again. Then he brings me back, and I crawl away again … you get the picture. But sometimes I like to stand by the couch or the coffee table and check stuff out. And, I learned that there’s a button on the big black box in the living room that makes lights and sounds come out! And, better; when the lights and sounds are on it already (I think Dad calls it hockey, and sometimes basketball), I can press the button over and over and over …. It makes me laugh when Daddy gets mad.
I also really really like to play with my brother. In fact, when I’m mad or bored or hungry or thirsty or when my mum and dad aren’t catering to my every whim and wish (which they really need to work on), he keeps me happy by playing with me. We play peek-a-boo and sometimes “bite Grayson on the nose;” he likes that.
Well, I’d better get back to playing. There’s some big box in the living room that I wanna go play with and tear open.
Later.
The Sevmeister
